EXCLUSIVE! AJ Mitchell reveals he’s learning to cook in self-isolation as he reminisces his trip to Australia

He’s the American pop teen sensation who recently visited Australia to promote his chart-topping single Slow Dance.

And on Thursday, , like the rest of us has had to find exciting ways to keep himself distracted.

Speaking to Hollywood Treatment, the 18-year-old singer said:

‘My roommate has been teaching me to cook. I figured I should probably learn to make something other than cereal.’

‘I’ve also been spending a lot of extra time at my piano,’ he said.

AJ first gained attention for his signature pop and R&B sound on Instagram, where he has since clocked up 1.4million Instagram followers.

The LA-based singer said having to spend time in lockdown has given him a chance to ‘appreciate the little things’ following his whirlwind rise to fame.

His smash hit Slow Dance, which also features breakout artist, Ava Max, became an instant hit after the duo performed it at the 2019 Video Music Awards.

The singer, who just released his new single, Spring Break, revealed he was really nervous about releasing his work for the world to critique.

‘Like with Spring Break, that happened so fast. It all just really clicked for that one. I think we wrote, recorded, and released it all within the same month,’ AJ said.

Recalling his trip to Australia in November, the singer gushed about the amazing weather and super friendly people he met on his visit.

‘It was really hard to beat the weather, and I live in LA so I didn’t think it was even possible to get any better, but everything from the weather to the amazing people.’

AJ said he is also hoping to return Down Under and play more shows once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

‘I can’t wait to get back and tour down there once this is all finally over,’ he said.
